Hello readers! Today I have a thought in my mind which was induced by a friend of mine regarding the existing education system. If anyone asks you what do you feel about the current education system how would you describe it? Would you call it efficient or name it as insufficient? When I had a discussion about this with my friend he had a lot of thoughts. When I add words to his thoughts the story goes this way....
Why do people now a days run behind gaining marks? Why do people keep an eye on current affairs just before they attend an interview? Why is it that our parents always compare us with others and ask us to be like them? Why do our parents and society tell us what and how our lives should be like? When we see a failure in our education why do we tend to suicide? These are just a few questions picked out of the lot.
Just as we were discussing these questions a few trolls striked me.
"A father and son go camping on a hill top. They set up their tents. As they get tired they take a nap. By the time they wake up its late in the night. There happens to be a conversation between the son and father.
Father: Son what do you see when you look up?
Son: Dad isn't the sky beautifully made with stars studded in different patterns. Look at the moon that's hiding behind the clouds and teasing us. We are able to see just a few stars. My teacher said that there are many more galaxies which comprise of billions of stars.
Father: You idiot.. can't you see that our tent is missing???
Moral: Education ruins common sense"
I thought this was the funniest one. After a few days I read another troll. A conversation between two friends.
"Rahul: Hey nikhil where does the sunrise?
Nikhil: Sun rises in the east.
Rahul: You dumbo!! Sun neither rises nor sets. It's earth that revolves around it"
The same moral follows.
My intention wasn't to make you laugh upon those trolls. I just wanted an answer to those questions that I mentioned above. I wonder why does the education system put 35% of marks to certify that you passed the exam when the cut-off for every other activity begins at 70%. I wonder why do they teach us huge chemical formula's when we have no intention to become a scientist. Even if they say that they want us to know what scientists do, why do they just give us theoretical knowledge and not practical knowledge. I wonder why people aspire to become engineers, doctors, lawyers, because only 20% of the passed out engineers are recruited and even among them 67% of them are not productive. When it comes to doctors we see clinics lined up across every lane you pass by and also we get to see incidents when patients remain unattended for long hours even at the time of emergencies. Despite of having a huge number of lawyers there are thousands of cases that are still pending.
There is no path that education leads to. You need to have practical knowledge that can be applied in the real world. Education is important but knowledge is essential. There is still one chance to change this system. When you grow up, when you have kids, when you really want to become a good mom or dad lead your children in the path they have passion in. There are many other professions where you can earn more than an engineer/doctor/lawyer, if earning is the only criteria. Don't be certified professional, try being a qualified professional. Excellence is yours when your passion becomes your profession.
I hope my post induced my thought into your minds too. Keep thinking and contribute to change this education system if your not happy with that."If you don't like a rule, follow it, reach the top and change it"
Happy thinking :)
