Chapter-4
As Aisha and Shruthi made their way to the transport zone the tall man called out to Aisha. "Did you have any problems in the campus today?" enquired the tall-but-not-handsome man. "No we did not have any problems" responded the girls in chorus. "If you have any trouble with your seniors or if you encounter any issues with regard to ragging please complain to me i'll do the needful. I'm your vice principal. Do not get afraid of anyone or anything" he exclaimed. "Yes sir, we will complain if anything goes wrong" replied Aisha.
Aisha and Shruthi started to walk towards their destination-the transport zone. After making sure they moved to a distance where the vice principal couldn't spot them Aisha burst out laughing. Shruthi looked puzzled. "What's the silent joke that I missed upon? Share it so that even I can laugh along" said Shruthi. "Nothing yaar. He was the one who told me where my class was in the morning. Looking at him made me feel he might be someone from the admin department , to be specific I thought he was a peon. Now that I know he's our vice principal I can't control my laughter. He looks funny. His way of talking is much more fun I mean his accent, that's not how a vice principal speaks" replied the laughing Aisha. "Stop it Aisha. On one hand am fully tensed what might happen near the buses and on the other hand my friend is laughing at some silly thing. I'v heard that buses zone is a danger zone. That's the only place where you interact with your seniors" said the tensed Shruthi. "Interaction meant ragging right?" Aisha winked.
"How can you be so calm and composed? Aren't you scared about being ragged?" Shruthi said biting her nails. "Shruthi darling are the seniors going to spare you if they find the tensed expression on your face or if they notice you biting your nails so much that they will bleed if you don't stop now?" Aisha said. Shruthi realized that she bit her nails good enough for them to pain and tried to calm down. "Just stay calm. Be bold. They are seniors and they will just talk to us. If things go out of control i'll complain to the VP" advised Aisha. Shruthi calmed down a little and they continued to walk towards the danger zone. "Finally we reached the destination" mentioned Aisha. Shruthi started sweating profusely. All of a sudden out of the blue a hand lands on Shruthi's shoulder from behind. Before she could react a girl pulled her away leaving Aisha alone. "Okay.. Now am scared" Aisha mumbles. "Hey you, the girl in black.." a senior called out. Aisha instinctively turned to the direction from which the voice came from. One look at her face and anyone could say that she controlled her laughter which made her cheeks red. Aisha looked adorable. She took a deep breath and replied "Who?? me??" The senior answered "Yes. You. Come here"
Aisha walks to the senior with a feeling that something bad is going to happen. Girls can very well predict the situations they are likely to face even before the time sets. Intuition is what Aisha calls it. So now if Aisha's intuition is says something bad is going to happen, then yes it has a 99% probability to happen. The rest 1% never bothers Aisha. As Aisha reached the senior scans her right from top to toe.
"Don't you know to wish your senior?" asked the senior in a tone which actually scared the hell out of Aisha.
"Hello Sir" Aisha replied.
"Is this the way how you wish your senior? Wish properly"
"Good evening sir."
"Is it only me whose sitting in front of you? Are my friends invisible?"
"Sorry sir. Good evening sir, sir, sir, sir, sir" Aisha wishes the hippie 5 gang (Aisha named the group of 5 guys in her mind)
"Tell me your BD" asked the one sitting to the right most corner.
"Sir what's BD?" questioned Aisha.
"You think you're smart enough to be in St.Mouris without knowing what's BD?" replied Akash (the guy on the left most corner.
"Sir in my entire syllabus of intermediate I'v never come across such an abbreviation" Aisha replied innocently.
"How dare you back answer?" snapped Rohit (the senior who called Aisha)
"Sorry sir. I meant no offence" replied Aisha in an apologetic tone.
"Let go of it guys. BD meant biodata" said Shashank (This fellow seems innocent. He's the odd man out. Aisha figured out mentally)
"Oh. Sir my name is Aisha Sharma. My dad Mr. Anil sharma works as a general manager. My mom Mrs.Sudha sharma is a home maker. I have 87% in my inter and 88.5% in my schooling. I have a younger sister whose in class 5th. My hobbies are singing, reading novels, watching movies and cooking" answered Aisha like a sincere school girl who felt giving extra points about herself would fetch her more marks.
"So your a topper. Hmmm. You told me that singing is your hobby. SIng a song for us" demanded Santhosh (Disgusting fellow. You cant bear it if I sing. Why would you want to suicide. Aisha thinks for a few seconds)
Aisha took a deep breath and started to sing
"Tu Hi To Jannat Meri
Tu Hi Mera Junnon
Tu Hi To Mannat Meri
Tu Hi Rooh Ka Sukun
Tu Hi Ankhiyon Ki Thandak
Tu Hi Dil Ki Hai Dastak
Aur Kuch Na Janu Mein
Bas Itna Hi Jaanu
Tujhe Mein Rab Dikhta Hai
Yaara Mein Kya Karu
Tujhe Mein Rab Dikhta Hai
Yaara Mein Kya Karu
Sajde Sae Jhukta Hai
Yaara Mein Kya Karu"
As Aisha starts to sing , the music begins. She pauses to look around who's playing that music, she looks to her right, to her left, and finally spots the guy. He's the same person who gave her lift to reach the third floor. She makes a mental note to find out who he is. Aisha completes the song. All the people around applaud. "Thanks" Aisha replies. Santhosh walks to Aisha and grabs her hand, pulls her close. Aisha tries to move back. He holds he tight. "What the hell are you doing?? Let go of me." Aisha screams at him. "Lets dance on the same song baby" Santhosh tightens his grip. Before Santhosh could take a step, there's a huge sound that reverberates for a few seconds. Before santhosh could analyse the situation, a group of ten guys surround Aisha blocking her way. "How dare you slap a senior?" "You will repent for this" "Do you even know how bad the consequences can be for this behavior of yours?" "We will make sure that your life becomes hell" came some random tantrums from the seniors who surrounded her.
"You can't touch a girl without her permission. You can't rag any junior. You can be imprisoned for this act. I'll complain to the vice principal" Aisha spoke in a voice filled with fear. "You can complain to the VP only when you go from here in a single piece." spoke a senior with a mischievous smile. All the guys started walking towards Aisha. Aisha was too scared to even respond. She tried to walk past these guys, but miserably fails. On the very next moment Santhosh gets a call. He moves away from the group to take the call. He spoke for 2 min 45 sec to be precise, no one knew the context of that talk. As soon as he hung up, he came to Aisha and apologized. "Am really very sorry. I promise that I wont repeat this mistake ever again. Please forgive me. No one will trouble you or rag you. Please please please forget what just happened and forgive us" Santhosh pleaded. Aisha could manage a feeble "It's okay" and ran to her bus. She boarded the bus and looked at those guys who surrounded her. All she could read out of their faces is mere fear and tension.
Aisha desperately wanted to know who made that phone call and what did the caller speak which had such a huge effect on the seniors.
