I know you must be wondering what sort of a title is that. Don't you find anything mysterious in that title? No wonder it sounds like one, as it is "CHETAN BHAGAT'S" upcoming novel.
Plot:
Once upon a time there was a Bihari boy called Madhav.
He fell in love with a girl called Riya.
Madhav didn't speak English well. RIya did.
Madhav wanted a relationship. Riya didn't.
Riya wanted friendship. Madhav didn't.
RIya suggested a compromise.
She agreed to be his half-girlfriend.
If there is one thing that this plot achieved, is a huge buzz around the title. I always feel Chetan Bhagat likes to play with numbers. His previous books:
One night at the call center
Two states
Three mistakes
Five point someone
Revolution 2020 and now "HALF GIRLFRIEND". When i read the title for the first time I was rofl because my silly brain imagined a girl being cut into half :P I know that's a crazy thought. Keeping that aside all I would wish is that the story is not revolving around the concept of "Friends with benefits". Chetan Bhagat being on of the best story tellers I would love if this book of his took me into a trance, into an imaginary world where you can put yourself in the place of the protogonist.
This book is being released in the month of October. You get a chance to win author signed copies on Flipkart if your lucky enough. I tried my luck. Its your turn now :)
